Exelon Corporation unit Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd) recently announced the addition of a new hybrid electric bucket truck, manufactured by Warrenville, IL-based International Truck and Engine Corporation and Cleveland, OH-based Eaton Corporation, as well as 50 new Ford Escape Hybrids to the company fleet.
ComEd said it plans to place the hybrid bucket truck at the company’s Chicago North Office later this year.
“We are taking a leadership role in the commercialization of hybrid heavy-duty trucks because of the benefits to customers and the environment,” said Exelon Energy Delivery president John Skolds. “We hope our involvement accelerates the development of hybrid trucks in our industry.”
