BRANDON, S.D., April 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — The most innovative aerial in the industry has a new sibling. Building on the success of its flagship product, Crimson Fire Aerials (https://www.crimson-fire.com/ ) is unveiling a new 75′ aerial.
Crimson is displaying the production model of its first-ever 75′ aerial this week at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis, Ind., April 11 – April 16 (Booth # 2627). The new, state-of-the art unit, mounted on a Spartan Gladiator Evolution chassis, is notable for its reduced weight and patent-pending Ladder Lift Cradle, which allows the ladder to operate 10 degrees below horizontal for river rescue and other low-angle operating conditions.
Crimson Fire, a subsidiary of Charlotte, Mich.-based Spartan Motors, Inc. , designed the aerial to satisfy needs identified as being most important to customers, including safety, increased functionality, durability and ease of operation and maintenance.
“Our new 75′ aerial applies all of the cutting-edge and patent-pending technology of our core aerial and brings it to a smaller, more agile unit,” said Jim Salmi, president of Crimson Fire. “Like our core product, this aerial performs with less maintenance, while also improving functionality in critical areas of rescue and firefighting operations. The truck’s affordability also makes it ideal for many mid-sized fire departments that need an aerial, but not a full-sized unit.”
Notable innovations for the aerial include:
* 75′ ladder – 500 lb. tip load while flowing 1,000 gallons-per-minute of water and able to operate with a quarter-inch covering of ice or during 50 MPH winds
* Ladder Lift Cradle – can operate 10 degrees below horizontal for river rescues or other previously impossible low-angle conditions and is designed to improve the lifting performance of the aerial and increase the overall stiffness of the ladder. The cylinder arrangement provides efficient lifting power, increases the egress space when the ladder is fully lowered, and makes adding equipment to the ladder easier for firefighters. The cradle also improves stability and produces a much smoother “ride” for the ladder, while reducing the loads on the lift cylinders.
* X-Style Outrigger – allows apparatus to level on slopes up to 12.5 degrees and handle set-ups on difficult terrain
* Vibra-Torq(TM) – Crimson Fire’s exclusive body mounts, which allow the body to float above the chassis, reducing vibration and stress for added durability.
* Roller-assisted Slide Mechanism – greaseless roller system eliminates virtually all routine maintenance from the aerial ladder’s extension system because of a decrease in ladder friction. The Nylatron polymer-type rollers take the place of traditional lubricated components and provide smoother performance with less maintenance and effortless extension and retraction.
