Jun. 6–HAVELOCK — A 4:30 p.m. crash on Adams Creek Road killed one man and closed the road for about 30 minutes Tuesday.

The wreck occurred when a N.C. Department of Transportation utility truck traveling west near the 1700 block of Adams Creek Road ran off the right side of road onto the shoulder and overcorrected, said Sgt. Timothy Daniels of the N.C. Highway Patrol.

That maneuver took the bucket truck to the left shoulder of the road, where it overturned and hit a tree, Daniels said.

He said speed was a factor in the crash.

The highway patrol identified the driver as Brian Lee Spradlin, 38, of Havelock, a DOT traffic service employee.

Trooper Jose Magana was dispatched to investigate the crash, which happened in a residential area about nine miles north of Havelock, about 1 1/2 miles down Adams Creek Road from N.C. 101.

The highway patrol is still investigating the crash.
