Sherman, Texas – August 2005 – The TEREX Reedrill R20T, also known as the Texas Twister, is the first track drill to provide a full 360-degree rotation capability. The machines 360-degree rotation allows for optimum positioning in areas that are difficult to access. In addition, its ability to completely turn around and safely tram down a steep embankment adds to both the safety of its operation and its overall productivity.
The Texas Twister is a fully self-contained hydraulic track drill mounted on the world-class CAT 312 excavator undercarriage. This track drill is fitted with the productive TEREX Reedrill HPR45 hydraulic rock drill for hole diameters ranging from 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 (64mm to 89mm). This powerful rock drill delivers up to 28 hp (21kW) of power for better penetration rates, ensuring increased quarry productivity whether drilling pre-split holes or production drilling. This drills design is simple, with fewer total parts than any other rock drill, allowing for unmatched ease of maintenance. This HPR45 is mounted on a newly designed cylinder/cable feed system that reduces noise levels and provides for smoother operation.
The Texas Twister utilizes an Isuzu 6BG1TQF engine, which produces 174 hp (130 kW) at 2,400 rpm (max.). With fuel consumption less than 6 gallons (22.71 liters) per hour, and an 80 gallon (303 liter) fuel capacity, this drill can operate for more than 13 hours without refueling. The Texas Twister is equipped with a 250 CFM-rated free air delivery compressor and features mounted side-by-side coolers for cooling efficiency and easy cleaning.
The Texas Twister also incorporates another TEREX Reedrill exclusive, the dust control system. This proven system features a power-operated pickup pot, pre-cleaner with dropout box, and dust collector. The collector fits within the profile of the machine, so the operating and shipping width is less than 8 feet (2,438mm). Mounted on a swing post, the collector can be moved to allow easy access to the hydraulic valves.
The R20T hydraulic track drill is also equipped with the hydraulically operated SmartDrill drilling system, which features self-adjusting feed force logic that serves to reduce operating costs and extend the life of consumables. This model can be equipped with remote tram and boom controls for tramming in difficult terrain. Another important feature is the machines 17-inch (431mm) ground clearance, which makes it the ideal drill for pioneering work.
FOPS certified, the newly designed cab on the Texas Twister is designed for operator comfort, with 360-degree visibility and noise levels less than 80dBa. Multi-function joystick controls provide for both quick response and control of machine functions.
