UCT Provides Underground Education at ICUEE

Underground Construction Technology, producer of the annual UCT Conference, has once again partnered with the biannual International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition (ICUEE), to present a targeted educational program concentrating on the underground utilities infrastructure.
UCT first brought its industry-leading education program to the 2005 ICUEE. The 2007 sessions will be expanded to encompass even more of the critical topics and areas of high interest and importance to the underground construction market.
ICUEE 2007, also known as The Demo Expo, will be held Oct. 16-18, at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, KY, and feature hands-on working equipment demonstrations.
UCT is a sister organization to the underground construction industry’s top publication, Underground Construction. UCT is known for its industry-leading, benchmark educational programs offered at its annual conference and exhibition.
Attendees receive extra value by participating in a one-day, pre-show Advanced Horizontal Directional Drilling School on Monday, Oct. 15. The course is structured for both the seasoned driller wanting a refresher course as well as the novice seeking to improve knowledge and capabilities. It is structured to help utilities and engineers better understand application and efficient operation of HDD projects.
UCT sessions cover new technologies related to FTTX and electric equipment and underground utility equipment, fiber optic cable installation, private fiber, converting overhead to underground, matching compact equipment with utility application, pipebursting, mud mixing and recycling systems, evaluating used HDD rigs, new keyhole methods and service connections, enhancements for tools, vacs and coring equipment, a variety of HDD issues including its role in overbuilds and locating sewer laterals, and updates on OSHA underground construction programs.
Attendees can earn continuing education units or professional development hours for sessions, including the HDD Workshop.

Special Pro-Show Program: Advanced HDD Workshop
Monday, Oct. 15, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Description: This special day-long session will provide valuable tips and insights into the application and efficient operations of HDD projects. The presentation is structured to aid utilities and engineers in understanding the advantages, limitations and applications of a technology that increasingly is becoming the preferred installation method for underground construction. This special program is also applicable for seasoned drillers seeking a refresher course/update or inexperienced operators seeking to better understand the role of HDD in modern construction. New Technology & Equipment: FTTX & Electric Description: With the increased construction activity in telecom, particularly fiber-to-the-premises, along with the electric market, refinements and new products are rapidly hitting the market to accommodate expanding needs. This session will highlight several specific technologies/equipment being displayed by ICUEE exhibitors, that have the potential to dramatically aid construction activities.
